The letter previous to the AY is missing due to the damage to the butt end of the anvil, under the letters are the numbers 210 which could represent a serial number. Centered on the side and in the middle of the anvilare the stamped letters AY MANUFACTURING BROOKLYN NY.
A 1/2'X 1/2'x 1' deep square hole is located under the horn and also centered in the anvil base near the number 6, another 1/4'x1/4'x1/2'deep square hole is located on the reverse or butt end of the anvil. Below the horn is the numeral 6 slightly skewed and stamped into the center of the anvil and centered between the horn and base, this could indicate a anvil size, no research was found to indicate what the number represents. The anvil is in good condition except that the butt end has been broken, the horn and base are intact.
